Author, entrepreneur, and lecturer
Christer Sturmark runs the publishing house Fri Tanke, (Free Thought publishers) which he founded together with ex-ABBA Björn Ulvaeus, Sven Hagströmer and Eva Ortmark. He is president of the Swedish Humanist association and chief editor of Swedish culture debate magazine Humanisten.
He lectures about the global networking society and has written four books about the social and cultural values which shapes our future. His latest book “Tro och Vetande 2.0” deals with the danger of the growing forces of new age and religious fundamentalism at the cost of enlightenment and reason.
Christer speaks from a humanistic perspective about the irrational forces intending to influence us humans in our search for safety, clarity, leadership and direction. He also describes some of the means which can help us handle the mental anxiety spreading in our days: reason, humanistic ethics and a secular attitude, founded in a world without supernatural forces game with the human.
Christer Sturmark discusses the philosophical and political basis for the debate on knowledge and belief, science, pseudoscience, religion and politics.
The world is today plagued by unreason. New age has become the religion of the rich world, and religious fundamentalism is growing within all the world religions of today.
Postmodernism and social constructivism dominates the cultural debate. This is the world where our children will grow up: boundless, filled with conflicts of idéas and multicultural. In the new and growing global society people change values and driving forces. We get more and more vulnerable for manipulation from pseudoscience, superstition, sects, and new age teachings of personal development.
Christer argues strong and clearly for the need of a new “Enlightenment 2.0”
