Dan Goods’ love for the big ideas and questions about humanity has landed him award-winning recognition. Named “One of the Most Interesting People in Los Angeles” by LA Weekly, Goods has a remarkable and noteworthy repertoire of creative projects.
After graduating valedictorian from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, Goods had the amazing opportunity to create his own job at NASA’s famed Jet Propulsion Laboratory where he currently works as a visual strategist. He runs a creative studio, works on art pieces that speak to the incredible discoveries that NASA makes and collaborates with their visionaries to brainstorm future missions.
Dan Goods also has his own studio where he collaborates on personal creative projects around the world. He won an International Design Excellence Award for his work on the eCLOUD, a 110-foot long digital sculpture at the San Jose International Airport. His other works include large-scale art projects at the Atlanta International Airport, SIAS International University in China and BMW in Paris.
Dan Goods is on the board of the Caltech Management Association and ITACCUS (International Astronautical Federation’s Technical Activities Committee for the Cultural Utilization of Space), and is an advisor to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Art and Technology program.
He has been profiled in The Los Angeles Times, FORTUNE magazine, Leonardo magazine and the National Endowment for the Arts Magazine.

Who or what inspires you the most?
Anyone who makes the world a better place.
What types of unique experiences have you had as a result of your profession?
My top three would be:
How much does humor factor into your keynotes and other speaking engagements?
I was giving a talk in China and no one was laughing, I then realized that none of them spoke English! Eventually we had a translator and they were all laughing out loud. I love making people laugh, but my goal is to have people laugh, get goosebumps, and cry all at the same time.
How is it to work at NASA?
I get to interact with people creating the future every day. One moment I’ll be talking with someone creating a new robot for mars, and in another moment have lunch with people who use large galaxies as telescopes. It’s really exciting!
Can you give three tips to individuals struggling with creativity?
