Also known as the Mental Health Comedian, speaker Frank King has a gift of making a topic that is so sensitive accessible and normal. Frank himself has thought about killing himself more times than he can count, and he comes from a family of depression. As a comedian, Frank is able to talk about the topic in a way that most people can relate to and understand, after all “nobody dies laughing”. He turned his dark times into a TEDx Talk “A Matter of Laugh or Death”. Even though Frank is a comedian, his approach to the topic of depression and suicide is real and very serious.
Speaker Frank King’s inspiring, thought-provoking and funny keynotes can help you realize how important it is to communicate to and understand the mind of someone who is battling with depression and suicide. As a motivational speaker and trainer, Frank uses his life lessons and background to give a voice to those who need it, and he creates a common pool for people to listen and understand.
Frank King speaks at a variety of events. Schools and colleges book him as a youth mental health speaker or for suicide prevention and post-vention. Certain industries, occupations and workplace cultures may be at a higher risk for depression and suicide, and these will benefit greatly from Frank’s talks.

Audience takeaways:
The talk will identify the negative impact on problem solving and coping mechanisms, cognitive functioning, memory, the effects on neural pathways of the brain and its relationship to self-destructive and suicidal behavior. Additionally, this talk will highlight the timing of the introduction of social media with the surge in the rates of both Major Depression and suicide. It will provoke thought regarding the impact that Social Media and Social Networking Sites have on those rates and offer preventative measures to decrease this correlation. This talk will discuss:
While some workplace stress is the new normal, excessive stress can interfere with your productivity and performance, impact your physical and emotional health, and affect your relationships and home life. It can even determine how successful you are on the job. You can’t control everything in your work environment, but that doesn’t mean you’re powerless, even when you’re stuck in a difficult situation. Whatever your ambitions or work demands, there are steps you can take to protect yourself from the debilitating effects of stress, improve your job satisfaction, and bolster your well-being in and out of the workplace.
Frank King helps workplaces appreciate the critical need for suicide prevention, creating a forum for dialogue and critical thinking about workplace mental health challenges. It builds a business
case for suicide prevention while promoting help-seeking and help-giving. Interactive exercises and case studies help employers and their staff apply and customize the content to their specific
work culture.
This program is divided into four chapters:
As a college and youth speaker can captivate the attention of youth and college age students regarding mental illness and suicide. Frank is forthcoming on his lifelong battle with depression and thoughts of suicide. Suicide Prevention is his passion and his purpose. He was literally born to it.
Depression and suicide run in his family. It’s called Generational Depression and Suicide. His grandmother died by suicide, his mother found her. His great aunt died by suicide, his mother and he found her. He was four-years old. Frank has come close enough to dying by suicide that he can tell you what the barrel of his gun tastes like. Which is a perspective that many mental health speakers cannot match. He’s been there, and almost done that.

The goal of this keynote is to empower you to understand bullying and how to take best practices and implement comprehensive, long-term prevention. Research shows that bullying is a public health and safety issue that negatively impacts outcomes for the youth involved. It is important to highlight bullying as a public health problem to keep children safe.
Should suicide in elderly populations a major concern? Yes, it’s a huge concern. We must address it far better. Adults aged 65 and older have one of the highest rates of suicide. Those 85 and older have the highest rate among adults. This may or may not come as a surprise to many people. While giant strides have already been taken to help seniors, we can do much more. To help the mental health of our seniors, we first must understand why it’s happening and identify roadblocks to getting them the help they so desperately need. Why is the elderly population is the“forgotten” demographic? And what can we do about that.

We have heard all kinds of positive comments about your performance. Great job, Frank!
Hi Frank, I have been meaning to tell you what a wonderful time we all had with you. I received wonderful comments, most of which said that this was the best staff meeting we have ever had and that who ever has to do the next one will have a tough act to follow. Thank you so much, you really did make me look good.
He was such a delight and so hilarious, he kept us all laughing! Frank added a personal touch to his act by mingling with the crowd beforehand to get to know his audience and tailored it to our company. He was very professional, easy going and kept the humor appropriate for a corporate office party. After our company Christmas party, the party committee received numerous compliments on Frank. He was a real joy to have!
Frank is wonderful!! We are so glad that we brought him in. So many people participated and we only had positive feedback.
Frank King was great, the group really enjoyed it! Now I need some help with ideas for next year. Each year it gets more challenging to find someone as good, or better than the previous year.
