Speaker Anna Rosling holds a Degree in Sociology and Photography. She uses these skills in her career fighting ignorance with a fact-based worldview.
Anna Rosling has spent over 15 years making global public data easier to understand and use. Yet is seemed no matter how much movement was added or how colorful the charts were, they didn’t really make the everyday life worldwide understandable. So, in 2011, Anna went back to the Gapminder Foundation to pursue this goal. She now serves as Product Manager, Art Director & Usability Lead of the Gapminder Foundation.
Anna’s earlier accomplishments include designing the user-interface of the famous animating bubble-chart tool called Trendalyzer, used by millions of students across the world, to understand multidimensional time series. The tool was acquired by Google where Anna worked as Senior Usability Designer designing interactive search results for statistical queries as well as the Motion Chart in Google Spreadsheets.
Now Anna is running the Dollar Street project which fulfills her goal to make worldwide living conditions more understandable. Dollar street is uniquely successful at this goal by using simple photos to illustrate big data. Anna hopes that one day dollar street will be used in classrooms worldwide so that the next generation will grow up with a true understanding of the world we live in.
