Known internationally as The Bipolar Businessman, Thomas has already reached millions of people with his writing, keynote speaking and through various media. He frequently works together with global companies to develop their mental health programmes while ensuring their business needs. Thomas is one of the UK’s most popular mental health speakers, as well as the primary mental health commentator and keynote speaker for the Institute of Directors.
He is the right person to show you and your organisation how to implement a culture of change. Growing up with a destructive father in a volatile environment, Thomas was subject to a lot of adversities in his early years. Despite his raw talent on the stage, he was thrown out of a prominent theatre school because of his mental problems. Nevertheless, after battling through alcohol and drug addictions, he successfully turned his life around.
Now, as an energetic keynote speaker Thomas is a presenter who commands your attention. His passionate and powerful style captivates all audiences and his keynotes are always a memorable experience. He’s spoken at hundreds of keynote events and round table sessions all over the World. Thomas also works closely with a wide range of businesses to break down their barriers and implement cutting-edge change programmes, that reduce absenteeism and help staff find themselves and become more productive in their day to day lives. There’s both a very real and a human ROI attached to everything Thomas does.
See keynotes with Thomas Duncan BellI've worked with Thomas at multiple events and sat with him on a number of panels over the last 3 years, I've also been pleased to have Thomas as part of my Minds@Work movement since our inception. Thomas has spoken for us at events during that time, including Unilever, HSBC & Barclays and he gives a very vulnerable and authentic illustration of his own mental health challenges. He also has the ability to bring some humour to a very serious subject. I would recommend Thomas to any organisation who wants to encourage others to tell their stories and in so doing address the stigma of mental ill health in workplaces.
Geoff McDonald - ex-Global VP of HR
"Thomas’ lived experiences and ability to understand human context makes him uniquely positioned to do good work building resilient people and workplaces."
Karen Rivoire - Global Equality Director
"I first saw Thomas present at the IoD back in 2016 against some seriously well respected panellists. While they shared their stories from a professional and seated position, everyone in the room was more engaged by Thomas, being the final speaker of the 4, who leapt to his feet unapologetically and was refreshingly real in how he performed his story to an awestruck audience. We've been friends ever since, spoken as part of the same initiatives on numerous occasions and I've also brought him into events that I've run, to offer his unique insight into what you can achieve off the back of lived experience. Highly recommended, an honest and humble guy, Thomas is the sort of maverick we need in the mental health space to really change the game."
