Anne-Marie Flammersfeld was born in Germany in 1978. She was very interested in sports and participated in swimming, gymnastics, tennis and handball. It was later in life that she became a fan of running and mountain sports. After leaving school, she studied Sport Science at the German Sport University and became a qualified heart therapist when she relocated to Switzerland. She has also received her BSc in Psychology in 2022.
Her interest in marathons and ultra trail races came after finding out about the 1,000 km 4 Deserts races from a man she met whilst on vacation in South America. So after researching the race, training and running marathons, she took part and became the first woman in the world to win all 4 desert races. The next year in 2013, she started her ‘Bottom Up Climbs’ project. Whilst doing a ‘Bottom Up Climbs’ in Kenya she smashed the world record for the fastest female ascent and descent of Kilimanjaro. She holds a number of records and is also a member of the German national ultra trail running team.
In 2009, Anne-Marie set up her own business, ‘all mountain fitness’ where she is a personal coach both physical and mental. She gives speeches on motivational topics, sport, health and nutrition etc. She is also a freelance writer, blogger and supporter of the foundation ‘Paulchen Esperanza’.
See keynotes with Anne-Marie FlammersfeldAnne-Marie Flammersfeld am convinced: life does not take place within fixed boundaries and in fixed frameworks. It takes courage to get out of your comfort zone – but you can only win.
Anne-Marie Flammersfeld believes in the things she does and always strive for new experiences – even outside the box. Or, to speak as a trail runner: She doesn’t always want to run in circles on a sports field, she wants to go out into nature and nature in all its wildness, with all its bumps, in all its harmony, with all its beauties, rough sides and surprising ones discover facets. Why? To see how she reacts, acts and to find solutions.
Anne-Marie Flammersfeld trust the power of inner motivation, the joy and happiness that we feel when we have mastered challenges and perhaps even surpassed ourselves.
