Jay Wright

At an individual level, Jay won the Naismith College Coach of the Year twice, in 2006 and 2016. That’s no easy thing considering that he faced cut-throat competition from several high-profile coaches during his coaching career. Among the players he has coached include big names like Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, and Josh Hart, among others. You can’t manage such big egos effectively unless you’re shrewd, right?

Before Jay’s time in the City of Brotherly Love, he was in charge of a struggling program at Hofstra University. That was in 1994. Through hard work, determination, and good management skills, he led the program to new heights, and five years later(1999), the Pride earned a deserved entry into the NIT. That was their first postseason appearance in 12 years. In the following two seasons, Jay guided Hofstra to two America East Conference triumphs in a row. This would send the team straight into the 2000 and 2001 NCAA Tournaments.

During his school days, Jay Wright played at Council Rock High School. It was here that he had 69 points in a match against Malvern Prep, a nearby archrival. After recognition from scouts, he went on to play for four years before graduating from Bucknell University.
