Following his early collegiate success, Danny Manning went on to lead the Jayhawks to the NCAA championships in 1988 and finished the game that year with the prestigious MVP award. Danny then played with the Los Angeles Clippers for six seasons, having been selected in the 1988 NBA draft as the first overall pick, and he earned 2 All-Star selections during this point of his career. Manning retired from playing in 2003, turning his attention instead to coaching and heading back to Kansas, where he helped as an assistant for nine years. After this, Danny Manning went to Tulsa University, where he was head coach of the basketball team in 2012, before being hired as coach for the Wake Forest University team in 2014. He led the Wake Forest team for six seasons.
Currently, Danny serves as associate head coach at the University of Louisville. During the 2021 NCAA tournament, Danny Manning was the colour commentator for the radio coverage provided by Westwood One. Manning also has a philanthropic side, having been involved with the Special Olympics and organisations such as Advocates for Athletic Equity and getting stuck in with numerous youth camps across the United States.
