Nico Rosberg was born in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1985. He is the son of Formula OneTM World Champion Keke Rosberg and German mother Gesine Rosberg. He grew up in Monaco and attended the international school there. Rosberg began his career in motorsport at a young age and made his debut in Formula OneTM in 2006, driving for Williams F1 before joining Mercedes AMG Petronas. In his eleven-year career at the pinnacle of motorsport, Nico Rosberg won 23 Grand Prix victories and 30 pole positions. In 2016, he won the World Championship with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team and announced his retirement as an active driver just five days later.
Since leaving Formula OneTM, Nico Rosberg has dedicated himself to promoting sustainable change through green technologies. He has invested in numerous alternative mobility start-ups such as Lilium, Volocopter, What3Words, Tier, and Chargepoint. He is also an investor and shareholder of the all-electric racing series Formula E. In 2019, he co-founded the GREENTECH FESTIVAL, a global platform for sustainable innovation that takes place annually in Berlin and other European cities. Rosberg is further the founder and CEO of Rosberg X Racing competing in Extreme E – a racing series highlighting the impact of climate change and promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in the quest for a lower carbon future.
Nico Rosberg’s motivation as an entrepreneur is fueled by his desire to drive positive change for society and mankind. He pursues this approach not only in his business activities but also as an ambassador for sustainable change working with partners such as Heineken, EnBW, Sunreef Yachts, Bianchi, and Kempinski Hotels. Rosberg has received numerous awards for his commitment to sustainable change, including the 2018 “GreenTec Entrepreneur of the Year” award, the 2020 “Aufbruch Award,” and the 2021 “European Cultural Award” for the environment. He speaks five languages fluently and lives with his wife Vivian and daughters Alaïa and Naila in Monaco and Ibiza.
