Brendan Hansen

Brendan Hansen is a 3-Time World Record Holder and Olympic Gold Medalist. In 1999, Brendan won his first National Championship. A year later he finished 3rd in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the US Olympic Swimming Trials narrowly missing the Olympic Team twice; but that didn’t stop Brendan, it lit a fire in him that still pushes him today. Since then, he has become the only person in history to win all the breaststroke events all four years at the NCAA Championships and, after qualifying for his first Olympic Team in 2004, he finally brought home a Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Brendan helped teammate Michael Phelps get his record 8th Gold medal in a single Olympic Games swimming the breaststroke leg in the 4×100 medley relay.

After taking a few years out of the pool, Brendan decided to rejoin the sport he loved and train for the London 2012Olympic Games. Brendan secured his comeback at the2011 National Championship with breaststroke times that ranked him top 10 in the world. Brendan is an avid sportsman and outdoorsmen spending his free time hunting, fishing, and wakeboarding around his current residence in Austin, TX. Brendan’s love for swimming makes him one of the most passionate speakers in the sport. He is the national spokesperson for the Leukemia Research Foundation and gives back to that community and the swimming community through youth clinics and motivational speaking.
