Who is Alidad
Alidad is one of the most distinctive voices in interior design, recognised for his ability to create spaces that feel layered, personal, and timeless. His interiors carry a sense of depth and authenticity, shaped by a philosophy grounded in history, craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of how people live.
His career began at Sotheby’s, where he became the youngest departmental director for Islamic works of art and textiles. This experience refined his eye for detail, materials, and historical context. It also shaped his understanding of how individual pieces can come together to form a cohesive and meaningful environment. This perspective led him to establish his own design studio, where he continues to create interiors at the highest level.
A style shaped by heritage
Alidad’s design language is strongly influenced by his childhood in Persia, where a rich cultural heritage and a deep sense of storytelling left a lasting impression. This background is reflected in his work, where every element carries intention and contributes to a wider narrative.
His approach draws from a wide range of historical styles, including Baroque, Neo-Classicism, Chinoiserie, and Art Deco. Rather than recreating the past, he reinterprets it with sensitivity and precision. The result is interiors that feel timeless yet relevant, where tradition and modernity coexist naturally.
Craftsmanship and detail
A defining element of Alidad’s work is his dedication to craftsmanship. Every project is approached as a unique composition, carefully tailored to the client and the space. He collaborates closely with skilled artisans to ensure that each detail is executed with care and expertise.
His interiors are known for their rich layering of textures, finishes, and materials. Colour plays a key role, often inspired by the softened tones found in 17th and 18th century textiles. This creates an atmosphere that feels warm, inviting, and lived-in. Spaces are never designed to feel new; they are designed to feel as though they have evolved over time.
A layered and eclectic approach
Alidad is widely recognised for his ability to combine antique, vintage, and contemporary elements into harmonious interiors. His work is characterised by a careful balance of scale, pattern, and texture, resulting in spaces that feel dynamic and full of character.
Each room tells a story, as though it has been curated over decades. This layered approach allows interiors to feel authentic and personal, avoiding uniformity and creating environments that invite both comfort and curiosity.
• Seamless integration of historical and modern design elements

• Interiors that feel collected, evolved, and deeply personal
