Speaker Dr. Debbie Berebichez is a television host, a physicist, a data scientist, and a keynote speaker. She has a Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University (the first Mexican woman to do so), and she is involved in numerous activities as a science, technology, and math ambassador. She also completed two postdoctoral fellowships in applied mathematics and physics at Columbia University and NYU. She also invented and pioneered a most effective technique in the field of wireless communications, which allows cell phone users to communicate with a desired target user in a distant location.
Along with co-hosting Outrageous Acts of Science, known from The Science Channel and Discovery Channel, Berebichez is currently the Principal Scientist at Thoughtworks in New York.
She has a background in theater which helps her connect with different types of audiences, from high school students to advanced professionals, scientists, and politicians. She is also a frequent public speaker, and she is on a mission to inspire and motivate young people to learn science and improve the general state of STEM education around the globe. She regularly appears as an expert guest or commentator on NOVA, CNN, the Travel Channel, and many other international media outlets.
