Irishman James McCabe studied literary storytelling first at University College Dublin and then at St. John’s College Oxford where he won the Millennium Prize for his doctoral degree. While working as a cross-cultural and communication coach with international brands such as Siemens, he realized modern technology had overtaken the age of rhetoric and now demanded a new era of dramatic narratives. Involvement – not persuasion – holds the key to human attention, engagement and commitment. This is a huge step change for so many in business at every level and entails supplementing expertise, logical argument and proof with empathy, suspense and surprise – in every medium and most of all in spoken interaction.
The Fable workshop in storytelling that James has designed is built on decades of insight and applicable to any corporate or organizational scenario. James transfers his skill set across the key business functions that deploy narrative – from leadership and reputation (PR) to strategy, brand and culture. In addition, James also works with business and product/service developers.
Embellishing the Irish gift of the gab with deep erudition as well as commercial smarts, his speaking engagements are designed to entertain and educate in equal measure. What is your next narrative? What story will you bring to the world this year? How will you bring your audience with you as you dramatize your core premise? The word story is Greek in origin and literally means “learning by inquiry”. James will help transform your event or program into a tellable, eventful and highly relatable experience.
