Speaker and moderator Elin Hauge is a business and data strategist, pragmatic futurist, and eternal rebel. Drawing on her extensive background in physics, mathematics, business, and law, she offers fresh and thought-provoking insights into the development and application of artificial intelligence and other data-driven technologies. Her expertise connects the dots between current realities and future possibilities, encompassing the demystification of AI, data power, business strategy, algorithmic risk, and digital transformation leadership.
Since the emergence of ChatGPT, the hype and political noise surrounding generative artificial intelligence have intensified on a weekly basis.
Indications of a financial bubble are becoming increasingly apparent, and the market is growing weary of unfulfilled promises and the science fiction-like pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI). Leaders and decision-makers struggle to grasp the genuine value, resulting in potential benefits often being overlooked.
Despite the hype and noise, artificial intelligence fundamentally involves the application of mathematical algorithms to large datasets to automate and optimise decision-making processes. It represents the natural next step in digital transformation. Beyond the fog of hype and noise, there lies real value for those who understand how to effectively utilise this powerful toolbox.
In this keynote, Elin Hauge explains how mathematical algorithms, aka AI, applied to substantial datasets can automate tasks and processes, fundamentally alter business models, and drive innovation in the development of new products and services. She then invites the audience to consider the flip sides of artificial intelligence, including ethical considerations, discriminatory practices, cyber threats, and environmental impacts.
Artificial intelligence is here to stay. What does this mean for you, and how can you contribute to creating real and responsible value-creation for your business or organisation?
Key takeaways:
We tend to think that everything digital is sustainable, because data flying around on the wireless internet do not leave any footprints. Or perhaps they do...?
In addition, generative AI and the quest for Artificial General Intelligence is proclaimed to be the solution to many of the major problems on the planet, such as mitigation of climate change, increased food production, healthcare and care-taking of aging populations, education, and green energy transition, only to mention a few. But what about the hardware footprint, the computation power required to develop and operate this generative AI frenzy, and the very tangible human and societal costs?
In this talk, Elin will blow your mind with heart-breaking and disturbing facts about the clash between artificial intelligence and sustainability. How can you as a leader and decision-maker navigate in this overwhelming, complex landscape, and fast-moving? What do you need to understand, what are your options, and how much impact can you really make?
Audience takeaways:
Despite a decade of digital transformation, many leaders and businesses continue to grapple with harnessing the potential of data. The advent of Artificial Intelligence has brought unfulfilled promises and raised doubts about its genuine value.
As technology and geopolitics become increasingly intertwined, leaders across Europe and various industries face common fundamental challenges: how to consolidate and leverage data within their organisations to create tangible and sustainable value, while ensuring accountability and mitigating operational and strategic risks.
This has never been an easy task. However, due to rapid technological advancements compounded by global instability, challenges are arising faster than many businesses and organisations are prepared and equipped to handle. These include the growing complexities surrounding data privacy, new regulations governing the use of Artificial Intelligence in automation and decision-making, the significant environmental impact of digital technologies, the increasing sophistication, frequency, and scope of cyberattacks, and the global challenges to digital sovereignty.
In this keynote, Elin Hauge draws upon her 25 years of experience in leading data-driven business development, combined with in-depth knowledge of mathematical algorithms in automation and decision-making. As a martial arts instructor and polymath, she relentlessly challenges the audience to think ahead, acquire more knowledge, and confront the forthcoming challenges with fearless determination and competence.
Key takeaways:
Our daily lives are saturated with digital streams and interactions. Content, offerings, and services are readily available on demand. However, how conscious are you of the digital traces you leave behind and how that data is utilised? While we are to some extent aware of the challenges associated with social media, what about applications like Spotify, Netflix, or online pharmacies?
As individuals, many of us remain largely oblivious to the potential threats of cybercrime attacks, political manipulation campaigns, aggressive neuromarketing tactics, and the environmental impact of digital technologies.
Meanwhile, generative artificial intelligence is often touted as a panacea for learning. Why invest time in traditional learning when tools like ChatGPT can generate what you need in mere seconds?
This keynote serves as a wake-up call, aiming to motivate and inspire the audience to become more aware and better equipped to shape the future we desire for ourselves, our societies, and our planet.

I heard Elin talk about leadership in the age of technology at a breakfast seminar. Elin managed, with an excellent presentation, to clarify some key concepts around AI and machine learning and at the same time inspire, reassure and challenge those present (mostly leaders) about how management should be practiced in the future. I think many experienced that this was a useful session.
