Ryan Poles' off-field career began shortly after his quick release from the Chicago Bears after college. His intense love for the game attracted him to work off-field with recruiting. In 2009, he began scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs and received a promotion to Director of Scouting in 2018. In 2021, the Chiefs named Poles Executive Director of Player Personnel in recognition of his ability to find and recruit talented individuals in support of on-field gameplay. As an NFL football executive, Ryan Poles has experienced a successful rise through the ranks to the position of general manager for the Chicago Bears. The appointment brings Poles full circle because his football career began with the Bears in 2008. He was drafted by the team as an unsigned free agent and quickly released.

He subsequently returned to his alma mater Boston College as a graduate assistant in 2008. In 2009, Poles found a job as a scouting assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs. After making positive contributions to recruiting strong personnel for the team, the Chiefs steadily promoted Poles from his scouting assistant position to Director of College Scouting in 2016, Assistant Director of Player Personnel in 2019, and Executive Director of Player Personnel in 2021.

Returning to the Bears as an executive brings Poles back to where his career began. Leveraging his years of experience in building strong teams, he’s wasted no time making solid moves to improve the squad’s roster. His love for the game and commitment to excellence has earned Poles a stellar reputation in the NFL.
