See keynotes with Ryan PyleAs a Producer, Director, and on-camera Talent, I’ve been leading film teams around the globe working in some of the most remote and dangerous environments on the planet, I’ve been completely humbled by this incredible opportunity and responsibility. It’s true that communication and accountability are everything. Building trust within your team, given them the confidence to make their own decisions, and making each team member feel valuable is crucial. How do we translate being a boss into being a leader that delivers for clients and stays accountable to their team at every stage?
The creative landscape is constantly changing as technology advances and audience behavior evolves. If we work in this hyper competitive creative world we must learn to adapt or die; and it has to happen fast. How can we identify gaps in the marketplace and fill them with projects that mix creative and responsible risk taking?
Over the years I’ve made adventure television shows by climbing massive mountains and walking across seemingly endless deserts. How does one lead a team of talented and courageous people into potentially dangerous situations while keeping them motivated, included and willing to give everything they have to a project’s success?
From just missing out on being a professional athlete, to the study of International Politics to working in China for The New York Times, Time, Newsweek, Forbes, Fortune to then making the move to television and crafting adventure television shows for the BBC Earth and Discovery Channel; wow. What a ride. Time maybe linear but opportunity is not and as the world changes, we need to embrace the change and be part of whatever the next conversation is. Constant re-positioning and re-branding is what it takes to be successful in a fast paced world.

It was our honor to pin the Cecilia Beaux pin on your lapel and have you join the legacy list of famous explorers that have also received that honor such as Theodore Roosevelt, Jacques Cousteau and Ernst Shackleton! Since 1891, explorers have taken the stage for this honor and you deserve it for navigating countries like India and China on a motorcycle. The Geographical Society audience loved seeing the video clips of such an adventure which you expertly filmed and presented. Thank you, Ryan!
