Tanya is a trailblazing author, pioneering thinker and campaigner on tech ethics and digital wellbeing, founder of the digital wellbeing movement Time To Log Off and host of the popular tech podcast 'It’s Complicated' Her three critically acclaimed books ‘My Brain Has Too Many Tabs Open’, ‘Off’ and ‘Stop Staring at Screens’ are published in ten languages worldwide.
Tanya has spent her entire career focused on the interaction between people and technology. As the founder of one of the first digital businesses in the UK she was a pioneer in the digital revolution. As our lives have become dominated by screens, her focus now is how to ensure we continue to use the digital world for good. She is a graduate of the University of Oxford, a current Masters researcher at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Tanya can genuinely claim to be one of the earliest digital pioneers. She launched a digital business just two years after Tim Berners-Lee made the WWW open to the world. In 2022 she was appointed a Fellow at the Royal Society of Arts. In 2018 she was one of the UK’s ‘Women of the Year’. In 2014 she was a Media Finalist in the 'First Women' Awards. In 2008 a finalist in the Blackberry 'Outstanding Women in Technology' Award and in 2007 a London finalist for the EY 'Entrepreneur of the Year'; semi-finalist in 2009.
In 2013 Tanya founded digital wellbeing movement Time To Log Off. Tanya is a founder member of the global Digital Wellness think tank, advocating for global research and policy on a healthy use of tech. Tanya has presented evidence to the UK House of Commons Science & Tech Committee and an APPG on the impact of social media and screens on young people’s health. In 2022 she was asked by the UK government (Digital, Culture Media & Sport) to help with a national campaign to raise awareness of the UK’s groundbreaking Online Safety Bill.
