Iraq has been heavily featured in the media the past twenty years which is largely because of former president Saddam Hussein who rose to power in 1979, founding a cruel totalitarian regime.

Hussein committed crimes of ethnic cleansing within his own country and when, in 1991, he invaded Kuwait, the regime was forced to back down. In 2003 American and Allied forces invaded Iraq, primarily based on a fear of nuclear weapons, thus ending Saddam Hussein’s regime.
