Reality TV is a type of television that pretends to show reality, that is to say non-constructed television contrary to most TV shows.

Reality TV, however, is of course every bit as constructed and orchestrated as most other TV shows, indeed some experts claim reality shows are even less real exactly because they present orchestration and manipulation within the framework of something presented as real when clearly it is not.

The reality of reality TV is typically not scripted in the traditional sense with acting and specific lines but what we see has been chosen and constructed based on certain narrative ideas and concepts.
